AP English Writing Sample “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers”- Charles William Eliot. The quote I chose is very relatable to me. Books of all kinds teach us lessons. No matter if it is fiction or non-fiction we, as readers, will learn a lesson for life to come for us. Along with books there is writing. Writing has a different interpretation to people for diverse points of views.
Writing interprets a peoples feeling or an idea of hat’s in the writers mind. Book, reading, and writing have been a big part of my life. I have personal experience and history with both reading and writing. Reading as a child to present day has been a Joy to me. The genre of books I practically read is fictional. The reason in doing so is because fictional books show me a different world or prospect of the world. Fictional books are like an escape from reality for me. They can make us believe is something that isn’t there.
But it teaches us that we truly don’t now about someone or something till they tell their story. We cannot Judge something Just by the appearances we see. For example, in “The Mortal Instruments Series” by Cassandra Clare it shows two halves of a place we all grown to know. It was altered in a way to show that there is always to sides of a person or place. This statement was also incorporated in the “The Strange Case of Dry. Jewell and Mr.. Hyde. ” In this book, it showed D. Jewell, a sophisticated clean cut man with class and wealth.
Also there is Mr.. Hyde, a man with no class nor manners. Both are two halves of a person; the person everyone sees and the person this man wanted to be. With reading comes writing. Writing is also a way of escape from reality. It helps me find a calm thought for myself. Writing helps expression my feeling in a way I cannot with people. As Anne Frank says “Paper is more patience than people. ” When writing, it lets the mind think of way to express the way we feel. Writing is also incorporated with music. The way it is incorporated is by the lyrics.
Lyrics cannot be made without writing it all down. Music is a big part of my life. Each lyric that’s written down has a meaning. The writer for each song we listen to puts their heart and soul into it. So writing greatly effects in a way it is indescribable. Both writing and reading are a great experience in my life. It reflects who I am and who I want to be. It shows people what they can expect of me because reading and writing is a gateway in a person’s mind and how it works. On Keeping a notebook By Diane_dues
